About Five Counties Legal Services
Five Counties Legal Services Ltd. was incorporated on the 20th February 2014 to act as a vehicle for offering consultancy and locum services to overstretched solicitors firms in the home and neighbouring counties. Through authorisation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, it is now able to offer private client and property legal services directly to members of the public.
The Company’s principal solicitor, Alexander Ian Fraser (called by his second christian name in accordance with a Scottish tradition), qualified in May 1981 after serving articles of clerkship with Lincolns Inn firm Speechly Mumford & Soames (now Charles Russell Speechlys) followed by several periods of employment with medium to small practices in the West of England, Home Counties and London dealing with most aspects of Civil Law.
In 1984, after a short spell as a Locum, he succeeded to the Dalston practice of Julius Fineberg LLB, the founding secretary of the North East London Law Society and its first honorary President.
Shortly after this, he established a branch office in Archway, North London, and in 1996 bolted on to a medium sized practice becoming a Consultant Solicitor with the new firm, Wilson Barca incorporating Frasers.
In November 2002, he resigned his consultancy with the Archway practice and took up a similar position with Weld & Beavan, one of the oldest established practices in Enfield, Middlesex, dealing with all branches of Conveyancing, Landlord & Tenant and Probate/private client work until the retirement of its sole principal in February 2014 when he joined its succeeding practise as a consultant in the property and private client departments until April 2018, following which he undertook several locums with local firms and others in Westminster and the home counties.
Apart from his involvement with Five Counties, Ian retains a nominal consultancy with Carr Richards solicitors in Hemel Hempstead where he advises and assists on all aspects of civil law.
